HEREFORD FOR ME
T
he lovely borderland of Wales,
A countryside unspoiled,
Despite the centuries of war
In which it was embroiled,
Consists of English counties four,
From Dee to Severn's Sea,
And since I'm free to make my choice
'Tis Hereford for me.
Her scenery beyond compare,
A climate soft and wild,
Wooded valleys, crystal streams,
And windswept hilltops mild;
Romantic legends, fabled myths,
Oft told, but never written,
And the annals of her marches
Are the history of Britain.
